Hip resurfacing is a bone-conserving alternative to total hip replacement in which the femoral head is reshaped and capped with a smooth metal prosthesis, while the acetabulum is fitted with a matching metal shell. This procedure preserves more native bone stock, allows for a more natural range of motion, and is particularly suited for younger, more active patients with hip arthritis.
