Hip replacement (hip arthroplasty) is a surgical procedure that replaces damaged or diseased hip joint components with artificial implants. It can be total (replacing both the femoral head and acetabulum) or partial and is most commonly performed to relieve pain and restore function in patients with arthritis, fractures, or other degenerative hip conditions.
